About The Position

We are seeking a Wire Harness Design Engineer to support the design and development of fire suppression systems for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role will be responsible for creating complete 3D models and 2D production drawings for fire suppression system wire harnesses, integrating off-the-shelf equipment, and supporting the release of manufacturing-ready engineering documentation. The engineer will develop complete 3D harness designs and manufacturing documentation, working closely with Integration Engineers and Mechanical Engineering Team Leads to deliver production-ready harness solutions that support procurement, manufacturing, quality control, assembly, and field deployment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related technical discipline.
3+ years of experience designing electrical wire harnesses for industrial equipment, energy systems, automotive, aerospace, or heavy equipment applications.
Proficiency using Zuken harness design software.
Experience creating: ○ Harness schematics ○ Harness drawings ○ Connector definitions ○ Bill of materials ○ Manufacturing documentation
Experience with harness routing, packaging, and integration into mechanical assemblies.
Familiarity with connectors, terminals, backshells, cable protection, and harness retention methods.
Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy, power electronics, or industrial control systems.
Experience with fire suppression systems, detection systems, or safety-critical electrical systems.
Experience with: ○ SolidWorks Electrical ○ ECAD-MCAD integration ○ 3D harness modeling
Knowledge of low-voltage power distribution and control systems.
Familiarity with environmental and regulatory requirements for outdoor electrical systems.
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
Experience supporting products from concept through production release.

Responsibilities

Develop complete 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks for fire suppression systems deployed within BESS installations.
Create harness routing and integration solutions for: ○ Harness pass-throughs within enclosures ○ Internal harness mounting provisions ○ Off-the-shelf HVAC system interfaces ○ Actuated valves and release modules ○ Temperature detectors, horns, and manual release assemblies
Develop complete 3D harness definitions and associated manufacturing documentation.
Ensure proper packaging, serviceability, and manufacturability of harness designs.
Participate in design reviews and technical discussions with cross-functional teams.
