About The Position

The Boeing Company's Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Seat Wire Integration (SWI) Electrical Design organization is seeking an experienced Wiring Design and Installation Engineer in North Charleston, SC. This role is crucial in defining the future of commercial aerospace through innovative ideas that advance the company's culture of safety and quality. The position focuses on developing and maintaining electrical product detail, assembly, and installation designs, with a particular emphasis on critical electrical cable/wire harness installation, detail, and assembly designs. This includes defining the physical routing layout of wires throughout the aircraft, considering requirements such as wire supports, separation for safety, proper parts selection, and environmental impacts on wire harness systems, all while prioritizing safety and quality. The engineer will also be responsible for developing and analyzing engineering design dispositions on discrepancies, collaborating with factory floor partners to ensure efficient and safe build processes, and improving documented processes, specifications, and procedures. Additionally, the role involves developing basic statements of work, participating in technical reviews of supplier capabilities, analyzing functional and physical requirements for integrated designs and system architecture, and actively supporting critical analysis and design reviews. The position offers opportunities for technical learning and career growth under the general supervision of a lead engineer and an experienced mentor, with a specific focus on 787 seats and interiors.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
2+ years of experience with wire harness, electrical and/or mechanical design.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Aviation/Aerospace interiors.
1+ years of experience in Computer aided design (CAD) tools.
Knowledge of CATIA V5.
Experience working in a cross functional team environment.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Developing and maintaining electrical product detail, assembly and installation designs (e.g., cable routing and geometry, brackets) for commercial aircraft.
Developing and maintaining critical electrical cable/wire harness installation, detail and assembly designs.
Defining the physical routing layout of wire routing throughout the airplane, considering wire supports and brackets, separation for physical and functional safety, proper parts selection, and environmental impacts.
Developing and analyzing engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests and shop revision requests).
Collaborating with partners on the factory floor to ensure designs can be built efficiently and safely.
Following and looking for improvements to documented processes, specifications and procedures that support safe and quality design and manufacture of electrical commodities.
Developing basic statements of work.
Participating in technical reviews of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
Analyzing functional and physical requirements to assure the development of integrated designs and system architecture.
Actively supporting critical analysis and design reviews.
Working with and under general supervision of a lead engineer and an experienced mentor to enhance technical learning and career growth.
Focusing heavily on 787 seats and interiors.
