About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking a motivated Wire Design and Install Engineer to join its team in El Segundo, California. The role focuses on the 3D design and installation engineering of wire harness assemblies for spacecraft applications. The engineer will collaborate with multiple engineering groups to develop and verify wiring systems that meet complex mechanical and system requirements, supporting spacecraft signals, power, data, and special-purpose wiring. Working within a small team, the engineer will provide technical expertise and mentorship while ensuring design integrity throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (focused in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a non-U.S. equivalent qualification directly related to the work.
• At least 1 year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience for Level 2.
• At least 1 year of experience with wire harness, electrical, and/or mechanical design.
• Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.
• Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.

Nice To Haves

• At least 3 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience for Level 3.
• At least 3 years of wire harness design, manufacturing, and/or integration experience.
• Manufacturing experience specializing in wire harnesses.
• At least 1 year of experience using CAD tools to design mechanical components or assemblies.
• Ability to lead and understand schematic details.
• Understanding of EMI/EMC separation for wire design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and model 3D wire harness bundle assemblies using advanced CAD tools within complex spacecraft assemblies.
• Design wire harness installation layouts and support details, and create 2D/3D mock-ups and form boards.
• Interpret and apply wire design schematics, requirements, and wire list details accurately.
• Support and coordinate with manufacturing and installation teams to ensure producibility and installation quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering groups to define system and mechanical requirements and guide the design toward final configuration.
• Conduct schematic validation, hand calculations, and design reviews, and use analysis tools to verify system functional integrity.
• Contribute to the generation, release, and management of engineering drawings and documentation.
• Communicate across teams to manage priorities and resolve design or integration issues.
