About The Position

The Boeing Company, specifically Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), is seeking a motivated Lead Wire Design & Install Engineer for their El Segundo, CA location. This role is within the Wire Harness Engineering Group, part of the Boeing Space and Launch, In-Space Vehicles organization, which handles major commercial and government satellite and ground programs. The engineer will be responsible for developing, documenting, and maintaining wire harness designs, including their mechanical design, manufacture, and installation. This involves collaborating with other engineering groups to define system and mechanical requirements, guiding product design, and verifying system functionality using analytical methods and tools such as schematic validation, hand calculations, design reviews, CEEDS, CAWS, Mentor Capital, and CREO. The position also involves supporting a small team of wire harness engineers by providing support, mentorship, and helping to define priorities.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5 + years of experience with wire harness, electrical and/or mechanical design
  • 3+ years of experience leading technical projects and teams

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in wire harness design, manufacturing and/or integration experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, specializing in wire harness
  • 3+ years of experience with computer aided design (CAD) tools for the design of mechanical components/assemblies
  • Ability to lead and understand schematic details
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC separation for wire design

Responsibilities

  • Support system design, integration, and verification activities across multiple platforms and subsystems
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, interface control documents, and integration plans
  • Perform system-level troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution to ensure operational readiness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and test engineers to resolve integration challenges
  • Mentor early career engineers as appropriate
  • Participate in design reviews, test planning, and execution to validate system performance
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams and government customers as needed
  • Maintain compliance with security, configuration management, and changing control processes
  • Attend daily engineering and program meetings to coordinate integration efforts and report status
  • Maintain professional demeanor while working in high-pressure environments with senior officials and stakeholders
