Wine and Spirits Clerk
About The Position
The Wine & Spirits Clerk provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service; educates customers about products; and rotates, faces, and replenishes merchandise while ensuring quality standards. The role supports a clean, well-stocked department and pleasant shopping experience by assisting customers, maintaining displays, receiving and putting away products, and following company and department guidelines. The position reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, and Wine & Spirits Department Manager. No positions report to this role.
Requirements
- Over six months and up to one year of similar or related work experience.
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions and deal with a few concrete variables.
- Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count, and record information.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Visual ability, with or without correction, to see from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, perceive depth, distinguish colors, and maintain a field of vision.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, efficient, friendly, and considerate customer service.
- Greet customers, learn and use their names when possible, and assist them with locating or reaching products and handling heavy items.
- Note and pass along customer suggestions or requests and take other steps to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful service.
- Work collaboratively with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Educate customers about products.
- Rotate, face, and replenish merchandise and maintain product quality standards.
- Check in and put away products and, when applicable, review invoices.
- Maintain displays in the department and throughout the store.
- Remove trash promptly and keep the work area clean and neat using proper sanitation procedures.
- Follow personal hygiene, dress, company, and store guidelines.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
- Order products at a supervisor’s request, assist with inventory, and build displays as needed.
- Assist in other store areas and perform other job-related duties and special projects.
