About The Position

The Windows Engineer tests and evaluates vendor hardware for engineering certification through Device Council, including laptops, desktops, monitors, docks, and peripherals. The role develops test plans from standard evaluation checklists, benchmarks performance, validates BIOS, firmware, driver, and accessory compatibility, and documents pass/fail recommendations on 45-day and 60-day certification tracks. Hands-on testing is performed on-site in the hardware lab; the role follows a hybrid schedule otherwise. The engineer develops hardware test standards and recommends vendor selections and new technologies. They work with support, Mac engineering, executive support, trading floor, and contact center teams to evaluate devices against business needs, and collaborate with vendors on pilots, firmware, product roadmaps, and pricing inputs. They also diagnose engineering-level hardware, firmware, and driver issues with Windows Engineering and Operations teams, using Splunk, SysTrack, and Microsoft Graph queries against Intune data to identify user experience issues and proactively find hardware problems. Recommended fixes are planned, tested, and deployed across the enterprise. The role owns Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on Windows, including major-release validation, update channels and cadence, and browser configuration and ADMX-backed policy in Microsoft Intune. It partners with Cyber Security on browser security baselines, extension governance, and incidents, and resolves browser support requests. The engineer packages, tests, and deploys BIOS, firmware, and driver updates in waves across 30,000 Windows devices, coordinates with the OS deployment team on drivers for newly certified models, and validates Windows 11 feature updates on certified hardware. The role submits ServiceNow change requests, validates results, provides production follow-up, and communicates changes to crew. The engineer maintains repeatable test plans, results, and documentation; co-authors crew quick-start guides with support teams before certification; and shares testing and release knowledge with newer engineers. They administer evaluation hardware across sites, including receiving, tracking, shipping, wiping, and redeploying units, and keep the test hardware tracker current. Work is delivered in sprints using Jira and Confluence. The role also participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
