About The Position

As a Winding Technician, you will be responsible for the rewinding of electrical transformers. This role involves hands-on work with both heavy mechanical tasks and fine technical details. Your duties will include cutting open transformers, removing and disassembling the core and coil, taking measurements for new coils, stacking core steel, insulating and setting the head frame, welding bus bars, and wiring the complete unit. You will also be involved in electrical testing, component function and installation, and the overall reconditioning process, gaining a comprehensive understanding of transformers. Requirements

• Ability to work with hands to fix things and solve problems.
• Comfortable with online documentation and web-based software systems (computer & smartphone).
• Good communication skills (in-person, over the phone, and via email).
• Ability to work with others.
• Good learning ability.
• Ability to use basic hand tools.
• Ability to follow written instructions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Fit transformers with new coils.
• Cut the lid off transformers.
• Remove and disassemble the transformer's core & coil.
• Take measurements for new coils.
• Stack thousands of pounds of core steel.
• Insulate and set the head frame.
• Weld on aluminum/copper bus.
• Wire up the complete unit.
• Perform electrical testing.
• Manage component function and installation.
• Execute the full reconditioning process.
