About The Position

The Wind Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining the Chickasaw Wind Energy Center, a 202.4 MW wind power generation facility near New Hampton, Iowa, using Siemens Gamesa and GE turbine technology. The role performs mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and inspections on wind turbines and associated equipment. Work includes daily tower climbs and requires following safety practices while working outdoors and at significant heights. The position has a 40-hour work week and is subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime; schedules may vary during peak maintenance periods.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of technical experience, such as mechanical or electrical experience, and/or technical education.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet).
• Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
• Weight must not exceed 124 kg (265 lbs.), excluding equipment or gear worn when performing job-related tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Eligible to work in the United States without current or future employer visa sponsorship.
• Must receive a negative drug test result following a conditional offer of employment to begin work; this is a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on Siemens Gamesa and GE wind turbines and associated equipment.
• Climb wind turbine towers daily, using required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment.
• Understand the electrical and mechanical functions of wind turbine generator components and associated equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, and repair or replace components.
• Maintain company tooling, facilities, and equipment, and keep the work environment clean and safe.
