About The Position

The Wind Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining the Red Barn Energy Center, a 91 MW wind power generation facility in Montfort, Wisconsin, using GE 3.4 turbine technology. The role involves routine mechanical and electrical maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of wind turbines and associated equipment. Technicians work outdoors, climb turbine towers, and follow required safety procedures. The work week is 40 hours, with scheduled and unscheduled overtime. The schedule may vary during peak maintenance periods. This is a safety-sensitive position; candidates receiving conditional employment offers must pass a drug test before beginning work.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of technical experience, such as mechanical or electrical experience, and/or technical education.
Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
Ability to climb ladders without assistance and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet).
Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 pounds), excluding equipment or gear worn when performing job-related tasks.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Eligibility to work in the United States without current or future employer visa sponsorship.
Must receive a negative drug test result after a conditional offer of employment to begin work.

Responsibilities

Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on GE wind turbines and associated equipment.
Climb wind turbine towers daily, wearing required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment.
Understand the electrical and mechanical functions of wind turbine generator components and associated equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, and repair or replace components.
Maintain company tools, facilities, and equipment, and keep a clean and safe work environment.
