About The Position

The Wind Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining the McAdoo Wind Energy Center, a 150 MW wind power generation facility in Dickens County, Texas, that uses GE 1.5SLE wind turbine technology. The role performs routine mechanical and electrical maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and component replacement on wind turbines and associated equipment. Technicians climb turbine towers daily and maintain company tools, facilities, equipment, and a clean, safe work environment. The position follows a 40-hour work week and may require scheduled and unscheduled overtime, with varying schedules during peak maintenance periods.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of technical experience (such as mechanical or electrical) and/or technical education.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet).
• Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
• Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 pounds), excluding equipment or gear worn when performing job-related tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Eligible to work in the United States without current or future employer visa sponsorship.
• Must receive a negative drug test result after a conditional offer to begin work.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on GE wind turbines and associated equipment.
• Climb wind turbine towers daily, wearing required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment.
• Understand the electrical and mechanical functions of wind turbine generator components and associated equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults and repair or replace components.
• Maintain company tooling, facilities, and equipment, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Work a 40-hour work week and be subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime; schedules vary during peak maintenance periods.
