About The Position

Deriva Energy, a portfolio company of Brookfield Renewable U.S., is a nationwide leader in sustainable energy, providing wind, solar, resilient backup power, and managed energy services to over 1,000 projects across the U.S., with a total electric capacity of more than 5,100 megawatts of nonregulated renewable energy. The company is seeking a Local Wind Technician to be based in MT Pleasant Wind Farm. Our Wind Technicians are a vital part of our organization, and we take pride in hiring and training the best in the industry. This is a full-time, permanent position with significant room for advancement. This is both the entry level and initial training level for the series. We are looking for a Wind Technician I or II, to maintain all aspects of our customers turbines (e.g., electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.). The physical work location is at the MT Pleasant Wind Farm: Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, United States of America.

Requirements

  • High School/GED
  • Ability to complete Level I job performance measures and training Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Must pass a background check and drug test prior to hire/start date
  • Safe Working Weight Requirement- This position contains a weight restriction of 265 pounds as an essential function of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study.
  • Experience with turbines Gamesa G8X or G9X turbines.
  • Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technologies
  • High voltage and substation maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e., voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools)
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
  • Competent with Maximo EZ Max mobile work and My Time management systems
  • Microsoft Office Including Excel/Word/PowerPoint
  • CPR and AED Training Certification
  • TSL tower climber and rescue & EEM training
  • Forklift certified

Responsibilities

  • Always maintain a high level of safety awareness
  • Climb heights 300 ft. and greater several times daily
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems
  • Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of an issue and perform corrective actions or open a service case with equipment manufacturer
  • Perform energy isolation in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures
  • Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures
  • Perform small or large corrective tasks on wind turbines
  • Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and evaluation
  • Maintaining all aspects (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) of turbines in a safe, high quality, and efficient manner
  • Maintain EH&S Documentation and complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary) within Maximo
