About The Position

Mortenson is seeking a Wind Heavy Equipment Operator for the Wellsburg Repower Wind Project in Wellsburg, Illinois. The operator operates equipment as directed and specified while following Mortenson safety policies and procedures. Equipment may include blades, dozers, loaders, scrapers, forklifts or telehandlers, cranes, bobcats or skid-steers, boom lifts or aerial lifts, rollers, backhoes, and track cranes. The role also involves routine equipment maintenance and observing equipment operation to detect malfunctions. Duties may change without notice, and other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Equipment certifications as required.
• At least one year of related experience.
• A current driver’s license of the proper classification and any endorsements required by law.
• Teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and load charts.
• Ability to operate equipment using levers, gears, pedals, and steering wheels; knowledge of equipment and its uses; and basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to work independently, listen actively, communicate effectively, and be open to diverse input and feedback.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Loads over 50 pounds require assistance from another team member or equipment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Operate project equipment as directed, including blades, dozers, loaders, scrapers, forklifts/telehandlers, cranes, bobcats/skid-steers, boom lifts/aerial lifts, rollers, backhoes, and track cranes.
• Follow safety regulations and maintain clear, orderly housekeeping.
• Perform routine maintenance, observe equipment operation, and detect malfunctions.
• Follow work plans and pre-task cards.
• Build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and at different organizational levels.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
