About The Position

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology. This position is responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient daily operations of LDWF’s Bodcau Shooting Range, including acting as chief range safety officer when needed. Incumbent is responsible for enforcing safety rules and regulations for the range, and ensuring that the entire facility and all operations are maintained at the highest standards. Incumbent will assist in coordinating volunteer Range Safety Officers’ activities, including recruitment and training of these volunteers. May oversee activities and work product of LDWF student worker(s).

Requirements

• No experience or training is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in operating a shooting range.
• Proficiency with shooting range technology and equipment.
• Range Safety Officer certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the day-to-day operations and maintenance of assigned shooting range to ensure that it is made available to the public and used in a safe manner.
• Regular weekend work is required.
• Assisting with the safe and efficient daily operations of LDWF’s Bodcau Shooting Range, including acting as chief range safety officer when needed.
