The Office of Wildlife exists to provide wise stewardship of Louisiana's wildlife and associated habitats and increase wildlife conservation awareness. This position is a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A-C Career Progression Group position that receives direct supervision from a Technician Supervisor based in the Lake Charles field office. The incumbent will perform daily operations primarily on Clear Creek, Flatwoods Savanna, Fort Polk-Vernon, Fort Polk North, Marsh Bayou, Sabine Island, Walnut Hill, and West Bay Wildlife Management Areas as well as other wildlife management areas or Lake Charles region projects as needed. This position will participate in necessary construction and maintenance activities on Department buildings, grounds, roads, levees, equipment, camping areas, and water control structures. This position requires the physical ability to operate boats, ATV/UTVs, tractors, motor-grader, and other heavy equipment, handle 50 pound sacks of fertilizer, work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and nights, and may be subject to 24-hour call.
