About The Position

The WIC Supervisor oversees the daily management of the WIC Clinic, ensuring smooth clinic operations and adherence to WIC Policies and Procedures. This role coordinates all clinic activities, including participant certification, food issuance, clinic scheduling, nutrition and breastfeeding education, and outreach efforts. As the Nutrition Coordinator, the supervisor develops local agency nutrition education and breastfeeding promotion and support plans, coordinates nutrition services, oversees food and formula prescriptions, and provides in-service training to staff. The position also involves developing and implementing Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Plans, assisting with WIC grant applications, and carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with PCHD policies, including interviewing, training, directing work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints. The role may require operating a vehicle for job-related tasks. Additionally, the supervisor must complete WIC-required trainings, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and be prepared for public health emergency response activities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and Dietetics required.
  • Licensed Dietitian (LD) in the State of Ohio and Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required.
  • Minimum of two years of job-related experience required.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements to sustain licensure and/or registration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • High level of customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily management of the WIC Clinic, ensuring smooth clinic operations and adherence to WIC Policies and Procedures.
  • Coordinate all clinic activities, including participant certification, food issuance, clinic scheduling, nutrition and breastfeeding education, outreach efforts, and other administrative duties.
  • Serve as Nutrition Coordinator – develop local agency nutrition education and breastfeeding promotion and support plans.
  • Coordinate and direct nutrition services to participants.
  • Oversee food and formula prescriptions and coordinate with medical providers.
  • Provide nutrition in-service training to other local agency staff who provide nutrition services to participants.
  • Coordinate nutrition services with other WIC program operations, local agencies and community organizations.
  • Supervise nutrition services staff, including Certifying Health Professionals.
  • Oversee development and implementation of Quality Assurance Plan and Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Assist with WIC grant application.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with PCHD policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, recommending, training employees, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints.
  • Oversee rewards and discipline of employees to foster a positive work environment.
  • May be required to operate a vehicle for job-related tasks.
  • Complete WIC-required trainings: WIC University, Health Professional Training, VENA, Civil Rights, System Security, Conflict of Interest, New Directors’ Training, Grow and Glow, Regional Directors Meetings.
  • Participate in quality improvement team projects and training initiatives, incorporating quality improvement principles into daily work activities.
  • Participate in public health emergency response activities as needed, including roles within the Incident Command System/National Incident Management System.
  • Attend and participate in agency-sponsored training, events, and activities.
  • Gather and organize documents to fulfill public records requests and other reporting obligations.
  • Participate in organizational activities that support and enhance agency accreditation.
  • Maintain reasonable and reliable attendance to meet organizational needs and objectives.
