Open Door is seeking a WIC (Women Infant Children) Nutrition Support Assistant for its Family Medical Centers in Sleepy Hollow, NY. The WIC Department Assistant will report to the WIC Program Director and will split time in Ossining, Mount Kisco and Sleepy Hollow, NY.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ year customer service experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Ability to learn computer system and function in fast-paced, high public contact setting required.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent in administration and follow-through.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse patient and staff environment.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team-based care environment.
  • Highly organized, flexible, and self-directed, able to multi-task.
  • Responsive and comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information about WIC Program benefits, related services, and enroll eligible participants in the WIC Program to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult age group.
  • Provide all relevant services and perform administrative tasks, as required, to achieve timely and efficient services and initial certification/subsequent certification processes for eligible participants including Non-Traditional Certification process when WICSIS is non-functional.
  • Determine program eligibility by assessing participants’ income, categorical, residential qualifications, and collect information for a complete nutrition assessment including anthropometry procedure for participants and send the participant to the lab when hematology result is required.
  • Complete participants’ information in WICSIS (WIC Statewide Information System) for Income, Category, Residential, and Maintain Nutritional & Behavioral Data.
  • Provide participants with referral to health or community services when necessary.
  • Promote outreach for potential eligible families to increase awareness of the WIC Program in the community.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as defined by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the Open Door Family Medical Centers.
  • Participate in multi-discipline team conferences and mandated training program by the State, Open Door and the WIC Program.
