About The Position

The WIC CPA is responsible for certifying and evaluating participants nutritional needs to determine eligibility for the WIC program, referring participants to other services and educating them on their dietary choices. CPAs are responsible for assessing participants, performing lab procedures, verifying height and weight by taking measurements, and planning to interview participants to determine appropriate food supplements. This position may require relocation/reassignment to any of our clinics based on business needs. Flexibility and willingness to relocate are required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • WIC CPA (Competent Professional Authority) Certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
  • Maintain 12 hours of continuing education per year once certified
  • Attend and complete training as required by the State of Nevada WIC Administration

Responsibilities

  • Screening and assessment of nutritional status relative to determining WIC eligibility
  • Acquiring and interpreting anthropometric and hematological measurements
  • Prescription of appropriate food package based on participant condition and preferences
  • Providing nutritional education based on assessment and the participant’s preference
  • Provides medical and community agency referrals and documents in participant record
  • Promotes breastfeeding in a positive manner to WIC participants and Community Partners; provides breastfeeding education, support, and breast pump issuance
  • Enter appropriate data into the WIC application. Documents certification, counseling, and referrals using the appropriate forms
  • Communicates in a participant centered fashion when interviewing participants and facilitating group nutrition education classes
  • Practices in a manner consistent with legal and ethical standards, including WIC regulations
  • Must be willing to conduct and receive peer to peer observations and be receptive
  • Follows up on special client and/or program problems encountered in the clinic or community
  • Uses bilingual or multilingual language skills to serve participants and the public
  • Assist with filing and other clerical duties as needed to keep the clinic organized and operating smoothly
  • Sets up follow up appointments for participants after certification
  • Ensure participant confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned by management
