About The Position

Reporting to the Development Partnership Manager, the Whitehorse Office Administrator manages Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government’s Whitehorse Office. This role serves as a point of contact for citizens living outside of Dawson City, connecting them with TH Government programs and services, as well as services from other governments and agencies. The incumbent will track inquiries, ensure follow-ups, maintain the office, establish an information library, provide support for TH employees working in Whitehorse, schedule the use of the space, and organize logistics for meetings hosted by TH Government in the office. Additionally, the position will provide support to the Elders Support Worker, including driving elders to and from appointments, organizing activities, and offering coordination. The incumbent will maintain a broad knowledge base of TH Government services and programs, and services from other governments and agencies to assist citizens in accessing supports. This role will also deliver a wide range of office administration support to TH Government employees and Council when they are working in Whitehorse.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent) combined with Certificate and/or Diploma or coursework in community services, Business or Office Administration or a related field combined with training, experience or knowledge in general office clerical and administrative functions. An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, and knowledge may be considered.
  • Knowledge of programs and services available for indigenous people and Yukon First Nation citizens.
  • Ability to research and effectively create referral networks in the Yukon.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties within established practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite including, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Good working knowledge of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in social structure, culture, and traditions.
  • General knowledge of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Land Claims Agreements, self-government agreement and implementation agreements and constitution.
  • Knowledge and experience of practices and procedures associated with working within a First Nation Government.
  • Criminal Records Check.
  • Standard First Aid Certification.
  • TH101 Cultural Awareness.
