About The Position
The Freelance Firm is a national network of experienced, high-level, freelance attorneys and paralegals providing remote, on-demand support for legal projects. Due to increased demand, they are interviewing for a qualified, experienced, and dedicated West Virginia Family Law Attorney. Remote work hours will vary, but are expected to be approximately 10+ hours per week.
Requirements
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of West Virginia
- Located in North or Central West Virginia, preferably in or near the Morgantown area
- Minimum of 5+ years of family law experience
- Comfortable handling in-person hearings and deposition coverage
- Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
- Experience with case review, litigation strategy, and case management
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
- Self-starter who can work independently
Responsibilities
- Provide in-person coverage for hearings, depositions, and other court-related proceedings as needed
- Review family law case files and assist with case strategy
- Help move active matters forward and ensure cases remain on track
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and other family law documents
- Assist with case management and litigation support
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support ongoing family law matters
