About The Position

Weatherly Inn is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and friendly Wellness Center Assistant to join our team full-time. This key position supports the care and well-being of our residents by providing exceptional customer service, assisting with administrative and resident care-related tasks, and maintaining clear and effective communication with residents, families, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, compassionate, and able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for our residents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar or related role required
  • Must complete Dementia and Mental Health Training within 90 days of hire
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Push a resident weighing up to 250 pounds in a wheelchair or push a cart of equivalent weight
  • Sit, stand, walk, squat, and bend at the waist multiple times throughout a shift
  • Perform repetitive arm and hand movements and reach above shoulder level
  • Operate equipment and technology, including an extractor vacuum, copier, computer, multi-line telephone system, and filing systems

Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand the special needs of residents and promptly report changes in physical or emotional condition or behavior to the nursing team.
  • Become familiar with and follow the Employee Handbook, Performance Expectations, and all assigned job duties.
  • Return routine Weatherly Inn phone calls within 24 hours and urgent calls within 4 hours.
  • Report needed repairs, safety concerns, or unsafe conditions to Maintenance or a supervisor.
  • Immediately report any on-the-job injury to a supervisor or charge nurse.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Provide exceptional service and maintain high-quality communication skills while effectively managing multiple tasks.
  • Answer telephone calls within two rings and appropriately direct calls or take accurate messages, including signing and dating messages as required.
  • Greet residents, staff, and visitors promptly and courteously when they approach the desk.
  • Respond to call lights immediately.
  • Assist with front desk and reception coverage as needed.
  • Notify appropriate nursing staff when a resident requests assistance and follow up as needed.
  • Notify the supervisor when a caregiver does not respond to a resident request or responds late without apparent justification.
  • Notify caregivers when residents need to be escorted to Beauty Shop appointments, van transportation, activities, manicures, or other scheduled services as part of the resident's care plan or as requested.
  • Keep the Wellness Center desk, cupboards, and work areas neat, clean, and organized.
  • Update, review, and thin computer records, resident charts, and binder documents as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assist with the preparation and thinning of resident charts.
  • Assist caregivers with recording resident vital signs as directed.
  • Complete and process guest and resident meal requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Complete employee call-in slips accurately and provide them to the supervisor.
  • Make staffing calls as directed.
  • Review flow sheets daily to ensure they are complete and signed, and direct incomplete forms to the Staffing Coordinator.
  • Complete office duties as assigned by the supervisor, including mailings and preparing resident information lists.
  • Prepare resident paperwork for physician appointments and confirm appointments with medical offices and families, as appropriate.
  • Recruit and train backup staff to provide coverage during breaks and absences.
  • Immediately call or fax the appropriate State Hotline when abuse, neglect, or exploitation is observed or reasonably suspected, and inform the supervisor immediately.
