About The Position

River Market Community Co-op is hiring a Full Time Wellness Buyer! This position is responsible for maintaining attractive and fully stocked shelves, placing orders for retail product following established procedures, receiving deliveries, ensuring high standards of product quality and safety, and keeping the store clean and organized. The Wellness Buyer will interact directly with customers, acting as a guide to help answer questions and locate products. This role is a great way to use your knowledge to help others and contribute to a sustainable local food system.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience with ordering, stocking and receiving preferred
  • Prior retail customer service experience
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Able to multi-task with an attention to detail, accuracy
  • Perform repeated bending, standing and reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic including counting, addition and subtraction
  • Computer proficiency in: MS Office-Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Must have availability to work weekends and evenings.
  • Experience placing orders for retail sale in product categories like vitamins and supplements, essential oils, body care, hair care, and skincare.
  • Must be physically able to occasionally grasp, grip, pull, push, twist, and turn as needed.
  • Constant (67-100%): Walking, standing, talking, hearing, correctable vision including near acuity and depth perception
  • Frequent (34-66%): Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds floor to waist
  • Occasional (1-33%): Working in refrigeration, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds floor to waist, lifting and reaching waist to shoulder, lifting and reaching above the shoulder
  • Approximately 25% of the time: Administrative duties, sitting

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous customer service
  • Assist customers with product selection, requests, special orders and returns
  • Check incoming deliveries for invoice accuracy, product quality, damage and shortages
  • Sign, date and code invoices according to the SOPs for pricing support and bookkeeping purposes.
  • Submit invoices promptly
  • Place orders to ensure supply of inventory is always adequate and meets volume needs
  • Obtain and submit credits from vendors in a timely manner
  • Participate in reviews of quarterly and seasonal movement reports.
  • Adjust merchandising and purchasing as directed by manager
  • Coordinate with manager and support staff on potential new products
  • Assist in planning and maintain attractive, fully stocked, rotated, and faced sections, including promo areas
  • Stock, or identify stocking priorities, in accordance with procedures and SOPs
