About The Position

Southeastern Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (SCADD) is seeking an enthusiastic Wellness & Recreation Assistant to implement and manage all recreation and wellness programs, including special events, for all SCADD programs. This role involves assisting with the coordination, planning, and preparation of these activities for clients across the SCADD continuum, promoting their socialization, growth, learning, and development.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in recreation management, physical education or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience in Substance use and community supports services preferred.
  • Experience with and the ability to plan, coordinate, promote and evaluate inclusive programs and activities.
  • CPR Certification preferred
  • Valid Driver's license with the ability to drive a company vehicle required

Responsibilities

  • Promote client socialization, growth, learning & development by planning, implementing & engaging clients for activities in the following categories: physical/ exercise, entertainment, social, religious, recreational/creative, education.
  • Coordinate all recreational and wellness activities and events across the continuum.
  • Schedule the use of facilities and activity areas.
  • Set up and keep records of equipment use.
  • Ensure that recreation facilities and equipment are used, maintained and sanitized properly.
  • Facilitate individual and group wellness activities including coaching, milieu management, and case management.
  • Provide feedback to the clinical team in regard to client’s level of motivation, participation in wellness activities and milieu interactions.
  • Uphold program rules, guidelines and policies and assists clients in following all rules, guidelines and policies.
  • Help assesses, collaborate and coordinate client’s discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with other members of the care team.
  • Maintain safety of the milieu at all times. This includes awareness of client location and high-risk situations.
  • Maintain wellness program schedule and special events schedule in coordination with other program schedules.
  • Perform light janitorial duties.
