Wellbeing, Health & Safety Plant Lead - Metro-Detroit Area
About The Position
The Plant Wellbeing, Health and Safety (WHS) Lead position is responsible for leading a team of wellbeing, health and safety specialists whose primary duties are ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of employees. In addition, the lead position serves as the key advisor to plant management on the implementation and management of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives designed to promote and achieve Stellantis Industrial System (SIS) criteria, our program for lean manufacturing. The WHS Plant Lead will report directly to the HR Manager in their respective plant, and functionally to the Division Lead in the Corporate WHS Staff. This position will be located at one of our Metro-Detroit Assembly Plants.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Science or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding and application of federal, state, provincial and local environmental and safety regulations and requirements
- Effective written and verbal communication, excellent presentation skills
- Strong leadership, analytical and problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and /or other software applications
Nice To Haves
- Environmental or safety professional certification (e.g. PE, P. Eng, CSP, CHMM)
- Master's degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Science or related field
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related field in a manufacturing environment
Responsibilities
- Direct and implement wellbeing, health and safety processes designed to improve key performance metrics
- Ensure compliance to federal, state, provincial and local regulations, and Corporate Policies and Procedures
- Lead the SIS (lean manufacturing) WHS activities in the plant for all populations of employees
- Direct and implement standardized WHS assessments and programs to address needed training
- Audit WHS processes and provide necessary follow up to ensure compliance
- Oversee, track, and follow up with appropriate parties in regards to Incident Investigations and corrective actions.
- Oversee requirements for new equipment programs with Engineering/Facilities
- Facilitate integration of ergonomic standards and processes to reduce risk and achieve site goals and objectives
- Manage the timely submission of documentation, reports, permit applications, inventories and surveys to appropriate government and regulatory agencies
- Coordinate communication of WHS regulatory activity with plant and corporate leadership
- Direct the implementation and sustainment of ISO 14001 (EMS) and OHSAS 18001
- Support all shifts and work additional hours as required
