The major function of this position is to perform advanced welding and materials related research using various equipment in EPRI’s state of the art Welding Lab. The focus for this position is mechanized arc welding but will also frequently expand to other welding and materials related testing equipment. This position supports EPRI Project/Program needs for hands-on support of welding and related activities in the Welding Lab. The role works under the supervision of EPRI Project Managers (PM) who establish test requirements and overall scope of study/project. The position supports the development of welding apparatus and evaluation of equipment capabilities. It also involves developing unique welding procedures and process parameters to meet emerging needs (such as new applications, materials, or equipment technology). Documentation of all process parameters, equipment settings, and other test/study data as applicable to the specific project is required. Due to staff needs, this position may also provide occasional support to the machine shop or facilities if necessary.
