About The Position

This position reports to the Production - Logistics Manager and is solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties. The Welding Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of all production work, functioning as a floor presence and providing supervision to production employees.

Requirements

  • Completion of MIG welding classes and/or one-year on the job experience as a production MIG welder desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and is able to delegate authority.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous Supervisory experience.
  • Ability to take pertinent training and/or classes as related to position.
  • Ability to acquire basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Completion of High School education or equivalent.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of company products.
  • Comply with quality, environmental, safety and JOST company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates production based on the production schedule and reports quantities and salvage to Excel sheets and the production meeting group.
  • Coordinates production to be within set targets according to efficiency reports.
  • Performs assigned tasks.
  • Keeps the shop floor clean and organized.
  • Maintains staffing as necessary and approved.
  • Verifies and reports efficiency per employee based on the ‘efficiency report’ and develops corrective action if an operator or equipment is not capable.
  • Ensures that each employee runs their job at a maximum efficiency level.
  • Follows the regimen of continuous improvement at all welding areas.
  • Demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures to new employees or assigns employees to experienced workers for training and verifies that they follow work instructions.
  • Ensures that the quality training records for BP and WI are up to date for all employees.
  • Ensures/verifies that QS is auditing the daily production and has the ability to shut down production for product and quality issues.
  • Confers with management, Human Resources, and/or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, grievances, and/or performance evaluations.
  • Verifies employee attendance and records and coordinates with Human Resources for accurate timekeeping.
  • Confers with Lead-men that non-conforming materials are properly tagged, logged, and located in designated wire baskets in designated areas by the end of the shift.
  • Ensures that all safety standards and company policies are followed in their area of responsibility.
  • Develops/implements Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Effectively participates in corrective action teams to address root causes in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoots production equipment.
  • Performs any additional duties that may be assigned and those that are logically and properly inherent to this position.
