JOB SUMMARY: The Welding Supervisor oversees daily welding operations and leads a team of welders and fitters to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and throughput goals. This role ensures compliance with customer specifications, engineering requirements, and applicable welding codes while driving continuous improvement across the welding department. The Welding Supervisor is responsible for workforce development, operational discipline, and maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient fabrication environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes including MIG, TIG, Flux‑Core, and Stick welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of welding codes and quality standards.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to welding fumes, noise, heat, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel‑toed footwear.
  • All qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS).
  • Experience in modular construction, pressure vessels, structural steel, or heavy fabrication.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, job hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of welding equipment
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and safety incidents; implement corrective actions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and 5S‑compliant work environment.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of welders, fitters, and welding support personnel.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure work is completed on time.
  • Manage labor resources to meet production demands and maximize efficienc
  • Coordinate workflow with Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, and Material Management.
  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Ensure all welds meet customer requirements, engineering drawings, and applicable welding codes.
  • Verify adherence to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and quality standards.
  • Coordinate inspections and corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce defects and rework.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to welding personnel.
  • Train employees on welding techniques, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and support career development plans
  • Maintain accountability for attendance, productivity, and performance expectations.
  • Foster a positive, team‑oriented culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including safety, quality, productivity, labor utilization, and throughput.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend process improvements, equipment upgrades, and cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and care of welding equipment and tools.
  • Support inventory control and material utilization efforts.
