About The Position

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is hiring for a Welding Foreman at our Sturgeon Bay location. This is a 1st shift role, Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 4:00pm. The Welding Foreman is responsible for coordinating welding department activities related to new ship construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects. The Welding Foreman will provide on-site direction by monitoring work progress, offering guidance, promoting accountability, ensuring quality standards, and meeting project deadlines. This is a leadership position with direct management of up to 40 employees. Domestic travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of welding methods, structural fabrication, welding techniques, weld preparation and installation procedures
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings, shipbuilding drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements
  • Strong understanding of shipboard welding, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and installation processes
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
  • Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness
  • Journeyman, Technical or associate's degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 2 Years of welding, structural fabrication, or shipboard welding experience required.
  • Have or are willing to obtain OSHA 30

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of shipboard, marine, or heavy industrial welding and leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret shipbuilding drawings, welding symbols, structural specifications, work packages, fabrication schedules, and engineering requirements to determine material needs, and work sequences
  • Plan and oversee welding, structural fabrication, assembly, alignment, and installation activities for shipboard structures, tanks, compartments, piping, and equipment
  • Coordinate workforce assignments, monitor production schedules, and ensure welding work is completed in accordance with quality, safety, environmental, and project requirements
  • Plan activities and overtime as needed to meet project demands
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; employee recognition and discipline; resolving employee concerns; and developing employees with the skills, competencies, and values needed to achieve Company goals.
