About The Position

SGS is looking for a Welding Inspector for a one month contract in Cleveland, OH with potential of further extension. The role is responsible for performing dimensional inspections, visual inspections, and marking verifications on metal parts. The inspector will perform dimensional inspections using simple equipment like tape measures, calipers, and gauges provided by the client. The client will provide test sheets and drawings with dimensions for verification. The role involves documenting results, preparing detailed reports, recording inspection results and non-conformities, investigating non-conformities to identify causes and assist in corrective actions, and communicating effectively with welders, engineers, and other personnel.

Requirements

AWS CWI or API 510 certification.
Five to ten (5 - 10) years industrial welding-related inspection experience.
Five (5) years of experience in Quality Assurance / vendor surveillance / shop inspections.
Industrial experience in Oil & gas / Power & Utility / Construction / Manufacturing, etc.
Experienced in inspecting welds on various manufactured products (e.g., pipelines, expansion joints, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other equipment).
Experienced in witnessing NDE tests (UT, PT, MT, RT, etc.) and verifying test reports.

Responsibilities

Perform dimensional inspections, visual inspections, and marking verifications on metal parts.
Perform dimensional inspection using tape measures, calipers, and gauges.
Verify parts against drawings and perform measurements.
Document inspection results.
Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection results, including any issues found.
Record inspection results and any non-conformities.
Investigate Non-Conformities, identify causes, and assist in corrective actions.
Communicate effectively with welders, engineers, and other personnel.
