About The Position

Shambaugh & Son L.P. is hiring a 1st Shift Welder for its Fire Fabrication shop. The role uses a universal welder to cut and weld steel pipe. The company is a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractor that performs new and retrofit construction across industrial, food processing, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and bio-fuel projects.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of welding experience.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Dependability, good attendance, and a positive attitude.
• Good work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to follow directions and communicate with others.
• Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and walk during 8–12-hour shifts.
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
• Must be able to work Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

• Pipe welding experience.
• Welding certificates.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings.
• Take measurements and plan layouts.
• Set up welding machines according to specifications.
• Weld components using semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Test machine welds for quality.
• Hand-weld any leaks found during a quality penetration die test.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
