About The Position
Contech is seeking a Welder to join its plant in Abingdon, Virginia. The Welder contributes to essential infrastructure projects, including drainage systems, pipe, bridges and structures, and stormwater management. The role involves interpreting welding documents, preparing and assembling materials, welding and cutting to precise layouts, and following safety protocols. The company offers hands-on training, ongoing training for welders, and opportunities for advancement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in welding techniques, including MIG and Stick welding.
- Ability to work with precision instruments.
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
Nice To Haves
- Technical training or welding experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures to ensure accurate welding.
- Use templates, patterns, scribes, and similar tools to mark and lay out material.
- Align and assemble products for welding using cranes, lever hoists, chains, and related equipment.
- Use a cutting or plasma torch to burn material to a precise layout.
- Follow safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
