About The Position
Contech is seeking a Welder for its plant in Abingdon, Virginia. The role contributes to essential infrastructure, including drainage systems, pipe, bridges and structures, and stormwater management. Welders read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures; mark and lay out materials; align and assemble products; and use cutting or plasma torches to follow precision layouts. The position emphasizes safety, precision, and quality. Contech provides hands-on and continuous training, a supportive work environment, and opportunities for advancement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in welding techniques, including MIG and stick welding.
- Ability to work with precision instruments.
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Technical training or welding experience.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures to ensure accurate welding.
- Use templates, patterns, scribes, and similar tools to mark and lay out material.
- Align and assemble products for welding using cranes, lever hoists, chains, and similar equipment.
- Use cutting or plasma torches to burn to precision layouts.
- Adhere to safety protocols to create a secure work environment.
