About The Position

Advanced Technology Systems Company (ATSC) in Gilbert, AZ is seeking an experienced Welder to join our team. ATSC’s product lines include C4ISR systems, Air Drop Delivery Systems, and Lighter Than Air systems. The Welder fabricates metal components and assemblies using various welding and cutting techniques based on technical drawings, specifications, or customer provided samples. When welding projects are not active, this position supports general production tasks. All applicants will complete a welding pretest and must bring their own PPE (welding gloves, leathers, helmet).

Requirements

  • Professional Welding Certification (AWS) preferred; MIG certification strongly desired.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional welding experience; portfolio or work samples are required.
  • Proficiency in TIG, MIG, Arc, gas welding, and related techniques.
  • Experience using both manual and automated fabrication tools (saws, grinders, calipers, squares, etc.).
  • Experience with material handling equipment (MHE), hydraulic presses, ironworkers, metal shears, metal benders, and pneumatic/electric drills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of welding safety standards and willingness to wear required PPE.
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Solid math skills for measurements, layout, and fabrication.
  • Must be proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding, cutting, and metal fabrication work in the shop and in field environments as required.
  • Read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, measurements, and fabrication instructions.
  • Repair and modify a variety of military and commercial equipment using appropriate welding processes.
  • Use oxygen/acetylene, carbon arc, and plasma cutting tools to cut, shape, or dismantle metal components.
  • Select the appropriate welding process, equipment, and parameters based on material type and job requirements.
  • Set up components for welding, including cutting materials, aligning parts, and clamping assemblies.
  • Weld components using manual and semiautomatic processes in multiple positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).
  • Calibrate welding tools and equipment in accordance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Inspect welds and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality requirements.
  • Operate and maintain fabrication tools such as grinders, sanders, drills, needle guns, saws, and shears.
  • Maintain welding and shop equipment in safe working condition.
  • Support additional production activities when welding projects are not active.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
