About The Position

Turner Industries Energy Services is seeking welders for maintenance work in the Whiting, Indiana area. The Welder lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, pipe, and building and bridge parts. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman. Duties are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. The schedule is six 10-hour shifts per week for at least six months. Per diem is available. Final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least four years of experience in the specified skill.
• Must pass a weld test before being hired.
• Must be certified as a welder.
• Must complete a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding.
• Lay out, position, align, and fit components together; bolt, clamp, or tack parts to secure them for welding.
• Set up equipment and weld parts.
• Assemble parts by bolting and riveting, as needed.
• Weld pipe, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and chrome, using processes such as arc, heliarc, gas, and TIG.
• Weld pipe, sheet metal, structural steel, brackets, or other materials.
• Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Use a cutting torch to cut materials and demolish existing assemblies.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
• Comply with company and client job-site safety requirements.
