About The Position

GE Vernova is dedicated to addressing the climate crisis by electrifying the world and helping to decarbonize it. The Welder C-Class position involves performing various welding operations, including shielded metal arc, submerged arc, plasma arc, gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and oxygen/acetylene welding. The role also includes brazing, soldering, torch cutting, and performing liquid dye penetrant tests. The Welder will work from less complicated prints and sketches, perform less difficult layouts and setups, and must be familiar with base metals, filler metals, and alloy selection. This position may involve assisting with more complicated jobs and potentially training others. The role also supports the upkeep and maintenance of machining and material handling equipment, assists with steam turbine repairs, and generator field repair and refurbishing. More complex tasks will be assigned based on employee skill and development.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • At least 2 years of experience in welding, machining (conventional or CNC) or technical assembly.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all welding operations as applied to shielded metal arc, submerged arc, plasma arc, gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and oxygen/acetylene.
  • Perform brazing, soldering and torch cutting operations.
  • Develop and work from less complicated prints and sketches.
  • Perform less difficult work involving layouts and setups.
  • Be familiar with the use of base metals, filler metals, and alloy selection.
  • Perform liquid dye penetrant tests.
  • Assist and work directly on more complicated and difficult jobs.
  • May direct and train others.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Upkeep and maintenance of machining equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Assist as needed with steam turbine repairs, and services delivered by the shop such as welding, machining with CNC mills, lathes, horizontal boring machines etc. as well as weld repairs and hand working parts.
  • Assist as needed with Generator field repair and re-furbishing.
  • Accept more complex and complicated tasks based on skill and abilities, giving consideration to employee development.
