About The Position

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for assembling and joining metal parts and structures using various welding techniques. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, welding procedures, and work instructions to accomplish any given tasks. The welder must ensure precision in cutting, fitting, and welding components, often using tools such as plasma cutters, torches, and grinders. This is highly detailed work which requires the knowledge of many techniques and tools to produce the high-quality work that is required. Additionally, the welder will inspect completed welds for quality and compliance with specifications, perform routine maintenance on equipment, and adhere to safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of stainless-steel welding
  • One year of welding experience
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and recognizing welding symbols and specifications
  • Skilled in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating
  • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
  • Ability to pass a respirator test
  • Knowledge of industry safety practices
  • Maintains a high level of awareness and safety in the workplace
  • Ability to work with different individuals as a team
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to adhere to schedule and follow attendance policy
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to work with metal components and operate welding equipment
  • Certified Welder

Responsibilities

  • Performs welding tasks according to blueprints, work orders, and welding procedures
  • Welds stainless steel and aluminum adhering to welding procedures
  • Bevels material according to procedure before welding
  • Sets up welding equipment according to welding procedures
  • Starts up and stops equipment
  • Welds custom-engineered components with meticulous attention to detail
  • Selects and kits material and other components needed for any task
  • Operates welding machines safely and efficiently to join metal components or structures
  • Fabricates or alters parts using shears, hammers, punches, and drills
  • Uses hand tools and portable power tools to trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of metal parts
  • Uses equipment like plasma cutters and rose bud torches for metal working
  • Welds in 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G positions
  • Inspects welded joints for quality and accuracy, adjusting as necessary to ensure compliance with standards
  • Takes performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards required of customers
  • Performs repairs to any defective or non-conforming welds
  • Collaborates on any repairs necessary for damaged parts
  • Assists in the making of Jigs to facilitate and improve welding process
  • Performs standard machine maintenance, including changing bottles, rollers, liners, etc
  • Maintains welding equipment and tools in good condition, reporting any malfunctions or issues to supervisors
  • Uses tools like measuring tape, angle finder, and material gauge to verify dimensions
  • Inspects parts to ensure conformance to specifications and quality standards
  • Marks parts for identification
  • Assists other welders
  • Loads and unloads items from machines, carts, and dollies
  • Works at heights of above 4ft with proper fall protection equipment
  • Performs required tasks while on a step ladder, ladder, rolling ladder, or scissor lift
  • Operates forklifts to move material
  • Assists forklift operators
  • Operates cranes, jib boom cranes, and other rigging equipment
  • Reports jobs status into workflow management software
  • Records data as needed
  • Cleans and organizes work and storage areas to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Sweeps, mops, and removes debris
  • Executes tasks while prioritizing safety and quality
  • Ensures a safe work environment for oneself and others in the workplace
  • Participates in continuous improvement projects
