About The Position

We are looking for an Welder for Operations and Maintenance to be responsible for the safe and effective fabrication, repair, and maintenance of underground mine infrastructure, equipment, and facilities. This role supports the reliability and integrity of underground assets by performing high‑quality welding and associated mechanical work in accordance with safety, engineering, and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Underground Operations Supervisor and working in a collaborative community within the team, you will:

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 4+ years of welding experience
  • Journeyperson welder certification or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience performing structural, plate, and pipe welding in industrial or mining environments.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) applicable to underground mining work.
  • Ability to work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and in physically demanding underground conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform shop and field welding, including fabrication, layout, and repair work on underground equipment, structures, and infrastructure.
  • Execute welding repairs on underground mobile and fixed plant, piping systems, steel supports, brackets, guards, and miscellaneous mine infrastructure.
  • Support repair and maintenance activities associated with shafts, hoisting systems, and related underground services as required.
  • Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • Conduct cutting, grinding, fitting, and assembly of metal components prior to welding.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
  • Safely operate welding equipment, cutting torches, grinders, and other hand and power tools in underground environments.
  • Follow all underground safety requirements, including ground control, ventilation, confined space, and hot‑work controls.
  • Participate in job hazard analyses (JHAs), pre‑task risk assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas and ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support underground operations and asset reliability.
