About The Position

Industrious Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Itochu International Inc (a holding of Itochu Corp, a Global Fortune 70 company), operates two subsidiaries specializing in the manufacturing, rebuilding, repairing, and servicing of equipment for the metal forming, steelmaking, and hydropower industries. Key clientele includes automotive companies, tier one and tier two auto suppliers, major steel producers, and public and private utilities. The Welder will join, fabricate, and repair metal and other materials by applying appropriate techniques using various welding devices. This role is responsible for assembling or repairing damaged pieces of metal using machinery that emits high heat temperatures and setting up components for welding according to specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess qualifications, skills and experience of former classification (Proficient).
  • Able to use GTAW process (Novice).
  • Fully proficient with SMAW, FCAW and SAW (Proficient).
  • Qualified to perform SAW machine welds on both stainless and carbon steel (Competent).
  • Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s) (Competent).
  • Able to produce high quality production welds (Competent).
  • Capable of operating gas cutting, plasma, and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications (Competent).
  • Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations (Competent).
  • Able to operate jib cranes and forklifts to facilitate positioning of weldments (Competent).
  • Able to make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments on same (Competent).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other materials by applying appropriate techniques using various welding devices.
  • Assemble or repair damaged pieces of metal using machinery that emits high heat temperatures.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Read blueprints (except geometric tolerancing).
  • Operate FCAW and SMAW processes proficiently.
  • Set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s).
  • Produce high quality welds.
  • Grind parts as needed per drawing and verbal instruction.
  • Operate gas cutting and air arc gouging processes on all but the most challenging applications.
  • Weld using larger wire sizes in many situations.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Keep Supervisor informed of problems regarding work, piece, schedule, safety, etc. as they arise.
  • Operate jib cranes and forklifts to facilitate positioning of weldments.
  • Make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments.
