About The Position

BlueScope is hiring a Welder to join a team that fabricates and repairs metal into high-quality components. The role is open to experienced welders and people eager to learn, with hands-on training and opportunities for professional development. The position works Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with some overtime required, and starts at $28.60 per hour. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments: $1,500 after 90 days and $1,500 at the one-year mark.

The Welder interprets blueprints and other specifications, prepares and welds parts into complete units, safely positions materials, and inspects work for quality. The role also includes participating in continuous improvement activities, tracking material inventory, maintaining machines, and supporting workplace housekeeping and organization. Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and schematics to determine appropriate welding processes.
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
• Safely use lifting devices, such as cranes and forklifts, to position materials or parts.
• Use measuring tools and inspection processes before, during, and after production to ensure materials meet specifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
• Track material inventory, perform machine maintenance, and support housekeeping and organizational standards, including 5-S practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
