About The Position

This role is responsible for setting up and operating equipment to meet quality and productivity standards using electric arc or automatic wire feed processes. The welder will set up equipment and weld parts using various welding techniques, ensuring the soundness of weld joints and maintaining proper weld dimensions, heat, and depth. The position requires reading blueprints, handling materials and tools, and inspecting parts using various measuring and inspection equipment. The welder will also be responsible for repairing products, performing assembly or production duties with minimal supervision, and ensuring company-supplied tools are properly stored. Additionally, the role involves assisting quality control in testing, conducting rope winding as necessary, and maintaining acceptable performance standards in assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping. All other assigned duties as instructed by supervision are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty safely and satisfactorily using good judgment.
  • Sherman & Reilly Weld Certification and AWS Specification D1.1. 94 and D1.3 89
  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • 6 months’ experience in manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school level.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving root cause and corrective action analysis.
  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lay down; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Must occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for set up and operations as required by drawings to meet acceptable quality and productivity standards by either electric arc or automatic wire feed process
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment.
  • Demonstrate soundness of weld joints while maintaining proper weld dimensions, heat and depth of weld to parts
  • Shall be subject to radiography, dye penetrant inspection or bend tests
  • Responsible for reading blue prints, handling materials and tools such as; tape measures, plasma cutter, cutting torches drill, bolts, clamps, etc.
  • Inspects parts or completed units by using visual inspection, gages, tape measures, check fixtures, calipers, or other inspection equipment.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts.
  • Performs a variety of assembly or production duties with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible to see that all company supplied tools used are placed into proper storage cabinets daily.
  • Assist quality in testing and other efforts as required
  • Conduct rope winding as necessary
  • Assist and maintains acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping.
  • Performs all other assigned duties as instructed by supervision.
