About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Welder for our 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Your expertise will be crucial in preparing materials for welding, reading blueprints, setting up welding machines, and ensuring the quality of welds and parts. This role requires a strong understanding of welding processes, blueprint interpretation, and the use of various measurement tools. We value a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, even if your experience differs slightly from the listed requirements.

Requirements

  • Certification in GTAW; AWS D17.1; PWA 16 (in any group material)
  • 3-5 years of welding experience required
  • Pass the welding certification tests for current materials used in the shop
  • Read, interpret, and process blueprints and operation sheets
  • Capable of using all standard bench tools and gauges required for setup, inspection, and welding of assemblies including calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and microscopes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials for welding; cut, grind, and clean metal.
  • Read weld blueprints, engineered drawings, and follow work order requirements.
  • Set up the welding machine for specific materials, thicknesses, and positions.
  • Use complicated weld fixtures and weld positioners (turntables).
  • Dimensionally inspect welds and other characteristics of parts being welded using tools such as calipers, protractors, and gauges.
  • Inspect all parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects.
  • Complete required quarterly process control samples.
  • Complete logs, check sheets, job orders, and other paperwork for each job performed.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly workstation and promote overall good housekeeping practices.
  • Work outside department as required.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear all Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Complete all required compliance training.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Barnes Aerospace’s internal compliance policies and procedures.
  • Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.
