About The Position

Performs and manages all facets of welding and/or fabricating aluminum frames. This role requires precise measurement and assembly, including jig building and maintenance. The welder will perform welding in various positions to exact standards, ensuring strength, penetration, fusion, and cosmetic quality while minimizing distortion. The position involves planning and executing tasks using experience and judgment. Essential functions include ordering and maintaining welding supplies and equipment, performing maintenance on welding tools, building and maintaining jigs, keeping the grinder apprised of repairs, maintaining equipment maintenance records, organizing the welding booth, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The role also requires communication with management regarding any issues affecting customer shipments. Cross-training in other positions such as Grinder, Sanding, Polishing, Packing, Assembly, Material Handler, Finisher Router, CNC Operator, etc., may be required. Duties are subject to change based on business needs.

Requirements

Ability to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds.
Ability to work 10-hour days on your feet.
Ability to work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperatures can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines.
Ability to work in a dusty environment.
Ability to read measurements in inches.

Responsibilities

Performs and manages all facets of welding and/or fabricating aluminum frames.
Squares and measures frames to assure proper length and width.
Builds and maintains jigs.
Fits and assembles parts by clamping or tack welding in preparation for welding.
Performs welding in any position to exact standards for penetration, fusion, strength, and cosmetics, and to avoid distortion.
Orders and maintains necessary equipment and supplies for performing welding functions.
Performs all necessary maintenance on welding tools.
Maintains equipment maintenance records and schedules.
Organizes and maintains the welding booth.
Maintains physical and safety conditions in the company by ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Informs appropriate department group leader or management associate of any product shortages, defects, delays, or any other problem affecting shipments to customers.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Cross-trains in other positions as required.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
