This role involves selecting equipment, planning layouts, and performing welding with a strong understanding of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques. The welder will lay out, position, align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components in various body positions and locations. They will also bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure them for welding, and set up equipment to weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or arc gas welding equipment. Additionally, the welder will weld metal materials to piping systems and equipment using appropriate procedures for different equipment and metal types, identify all equipment for the job and process, and identify all safety risks and requirements.
