About The Position

Gulf Marine Repair of Tampa, FL is looking to hire full-time Structural Welders. These positions start at $24.45/hour. Requirements

  • MINIMUM of three (3) years of SHIPYARD WELDING experience - REQUIRED
  • Must have proper equipment to complete weld test: Chipping Hammer, Gloves, 4" Grinder, Hood, Safety Glasses, Steel-toed Boots, Welding Stinger (Whip - your stinger/whip should have a 5/8" quick connect end), Wire Brush and Wire Pliers.
  • Non-flammable arms and upper body coverage attire (leathers, denim jacket, long sleeve shirt) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Must pass all three (3) positions - Vertical, Horizontal, and Overhead - flux core and stick
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Complete an open-root weld test on a 3/8" plate with a 1/8" gap for both SMAW (1/8" 7018 rods) and FCAW (flux-core) processes.
  • Apply weldment to backing tabs to ensure coupons do not separate during welding.
  • Mount coupons to the welding test booth jig.
  • Run root pass, filler pass, and cap pass according to specified procedures.
  • Back-gouge test plates.
  • Clean up slag left on the face of the back-gouge using only a wire wheel.
