About The Position

The Welder/Mechanic/Machinist primarily maintains Marion walking draglines and assists with repairs to mobile equipment and coal processing facilities. The role performs welding on mine equipment, including coal haulers and track-type earthmovers, and mechanical repair and overhaul of dragline heavy gear boxes and other open and enclosed gear systems. Work may involve elevated areas of draglines, including the boom point and tri-structure, and takes place in varying environmental conditions with exposure to dust, noise, and adverse weather. The position requires working multiple shifts and being available for call-out on a 24-hour basis.

Requirements

• Dragline mechanical repair experience or equivalent.
• Pass an established weld test.
• Strong working mechanical knowledge sufficient to perform required dragline heavy gear box repairs and overhauls.
• Knowledge of general maintenance practices encountered on draglines.
• Strong awareness and understanding of work-related safety practices.
• Physically capable of working at heights above 50 feet, lifting 50 pounds or more, working in confined areas, and working in awkward positions requiring prolonged bending or kneeling.
• Ability to work multiple shifts and be available for call-out on a 24-hour basis.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license throughout employment.
• Meet all insurability requirements specified by Westmoreland’s policies or the driver’s insurance provider.

Nice To Haves

• Machinist or millwright experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot lubrication systems.
• Licensed mobile crane experience.
