Welder I (Header Welder) - Night Shift

About The Position

Chart is hiring a Welder I (Header Welder) to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques. The role involves interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to determine the appropriate welding process, and inspecting completed welds for structural soundness. The welder also produces quality visual, U.T., and x-ray welds and supports safety and production. This is a safety-sensitive position involving heavy machinery, power tools, and potentially hazardous conditions, requiring employees to follow safety protocols and protect themselves and others. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with occasional Saturdays.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
2–4 years of related experience.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
Ability to operate an overhead crane.
Familiarity with welding machines and hand tools.
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Ability to work under general supervision and different shifts.
Ability to pass a 2G MIG root with flux fill and cap.
Ability and willingness to learn to operate basic cutting equipment.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Positive attitude.
Ability to perform duties safely and follow safety protocols in a safety-sensitive environment.

Responsibilities

Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques.
Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process.
Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness.
Make quality visual, U.T., and x-ray welds.
Promote and support safety and production.
Perform a variety of tasks as assigned.
