Welder Helper (Nights M-F 5pm-3:30am)

About The Position

The Welder Helper assists Welder I and Welder II with welding tasks, preparing workpieces, setting up equipment, handling materials, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The role involves learning and following safety procedures, reading basic welding blueprints and instructions, and helping tack-weld components. The position requires effective communication, interpersonal skills, sound decision-making, analytical problem-solving, multitasking, organization, and the ability to work effectively with a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The work includes lifting up to 50 pounds and sitting or standing for up to 95 percent of work hours. Periodic visits to the manufacturing facility may involve seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure. Benefits are offered to full-time team members.

Responsibilities

Assist Welder I and Welder II with welding tasks as directed.
Prepare workpieces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and scraping.
Help set up welding equipment and tools under supervision.
Handle and store welding materials and equipment properly.
Operate power tools and hand tools under guidance.
Read and interpret basic welding blueprints and instructions.
Assist with tack welding components together for final welding.
Support Welder I and Welder II in maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Learn and follow safety procedures and guidelines.
Assist in training and mentoring new helpers as needed.
