Transplant Financial Specialist BMT - M-F 8:30am-5pm

Moffitt Cancer Center
•$21 - $31

About The Position

A Transplant Financial Specialist at Moffitt Cancer Center analyzes clinical orders and researches complex insurance coverage to develop financial and payment expectations for prospective Bone Marrow Transplant patients, donors, and families. Because transplant is a complex, high-cost procedure that may require long-term medical care, the specialist provides detailed financial counseling to help patients and families make informed decisions. The specialist verifies insurance benefits, including carve-outs and special contracts, and prepares detailed transplant estimates covering out-of-pocket costs and longer-term expenses such as prescription coverage and personal costs. The role also involves obtaining referrals and authorizations for services across the treatment series and communicating with clinical teams and patients throughout the process. Accuracy, organization, critical thinking, time management, and strong computer and software navigation skills are important. The specialist works independently while collaborating with the team, and provides compassionate, patient-focused financial guidance by phone and email in a structured, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three years of experience in data processing, hospital registration, insurance verification, and insurance pre-certification/authorization with a healthcare provider or insurance company.
  • Obtain Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification within six months of hire; renewal is not required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer and software navigation skills and comfort with medical terminology, including comprehension and research of clinical information.
  • Organization, attention to detail, critical thinking, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Compassion and patience when supporting patients and families.
