About The Position

The Welder/Fitter performs metal fabrication and welding work in a manufacturing environment. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions, preparing and fitting materials, and producing accurately welded components that meet quality and production requirements. The work includes FCAW and MIG welding, operating fabrication equipment, and checking completed products against specifications. This is a contract-to-hire role with the potential for long-term employment and further development of fabrication skills.

Requirements

• Previous hands-on experience with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and MIG welding.
• Ability to pass a flat 1G welding test.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications.
• Experience using inspection and measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and rulers.
• Basic mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work reliably as part of a team.
• Familiarity with fabrication and layout tools, including squares, tape measures, Bessey clamps, reachovers, levels, and hammers.

Nice To Haves

• 3G welding capability.
• Previous TIG welding experience.
• Familiarity with metal fabrication involving different material types and thicknesses.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine fabrication requirements.
• Perform Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and MIG welding on metal components.
• Fit, position, and prepare materials for welding and assembly.
• Operate welding and metal fabrication equipment safely and accurately.
• Check completed work to ensure dimensions and workmanship meet specifications.
• Use inspection instruments to verify measurements and product accuracy.
• Complete assigned work according to production schedules and quality requirements.
• Follow established Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
• Follow workplace safety practices and production guidelines.
