About The Position

Mural Group is partnering with a long-established Cleveland waterfront shipyard to hire three Welders/Fitters on a contract-to-hire basis. The role supports new vessel construction and ship repair operations at an active working shipyard. A current AWS certification is required and must be active at the time of hire.

Requirements

• Current AWS certification, active at the time of hire.
• Prior outfitting or fabricating experience in a shipyard, industrial, or heavy structural environment.
• Ability to work independently with blueprints and ship check documentation.
• Experience working in confined spaces, on stairs and ladders, and outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual Spanish is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, validate dimensions, and determine materials and installation routes during ship check.
• Fabricate shapes from installation drawings and ship check notes; install, tack, and weld shapes.
• Fit steel plate 3/16 inch and heavier; set up and lay out work; bend light and heavy metal.
• Operate flux core welding processes with minimal supervision.
• Use hand tools, a drill press, welding machines, an air compressor, a generator, a chain hoist, a sandblaster, a paint gun, a grinder, a band saw, and a forklift.
• Support electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Assist with jobsite setup, cleanup, and other duties as needed.
