About The Position

Hilton Tool is a Manufacturer of Precision Machined Components, specializing in close tolerance parts, assemblies, prototyping, and production runs. They also engage in complex steel fabrication. This role involves welding, cutting, and brazing metal pieces using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. The work is performed in a permanently located shop, focusing on the fabrication or assembly of structural iron or steel products. Each project is unique, and the products are used in the construction of structures. The fabricating process includes laying out, marking, cutting, sawing, drilling, punching, bolting, welding, and assembling pieces into finished structural steel products.

  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping and carrying materials.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in and be proficient at FCAW, SMAW and GMAW welding processes.
  • Experienced in the use of WPS's.
  • Previous experience in structural steel welding and fabrication shop.
  • Must have experience in heating/burning processes, most torch and plasma use.
  • Must have experience in and understand basic weld symbols.

Responsibilities

  • Weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products using flame-cutting and hand welding lace equipment.
  • Fabricate or assemble structural iron or steel products such as bars, I-beams, channels, angles, tees, plates and other large metal members of a structure.
  • Lay out pieces, and mark, cut, saw, drill, punch, bolt, weld, and assemble pieces into finished structural steel products.
  • Produce quantity and quality welds in at least 3 positions and 3 processes (for Welder Class A).
  • Air arc correctly and weld with a failure rate of less than 3% on all fillet and groove welds (for Welder Class A).
  • Produce acceptable fillet and groove welds on code work using FCAW, SMAW and GMAW processes in the flat and horizontal positions (for Welder Class B).
  • Air arc correctly and make acceptable fillet welds on non-code work in the vertical position (for Welder Class B).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
